Apple Music’s 404 page has a fully functional iPod simulator, and it’s surprisingly faithful to the original. Head into Settings > About, hold down the Select button for five seconds, and you’ll unlock a game of BrickOut (officially known as Brick by Apple).
The original iPod really was a little work of art. Simple, purpose-built, and brilliantly designed. You could do just about everything with your thumb without even having to look at the screen. There was something almost magical about that simplicity.
I would absolutely love to see Apple bring it back for a limited run. No redesigns, no unnecessary features, no attempt to reinvent the wheel. Just take the original iPod, replace the hard drive with an SSD, and leave everything else alone.
